I created two accounts to handle the tax impact of a cash bonus that was paid to an employee: one as a compensation item to add $100 as "Cash Bonus Paid" to generate tax on the amount, and then a Deduction item to back out the $100 as a non-taxable item used solely to avoid payment of an additional $100 to the employee. The latter I made an error ... in the "liability" field in the Payroll Item setup, I entered a GL # that referenced "Payroll Liabilities" (2101) instead of the number for "Direct Deposit Liability" (2110). Now I have $100 in the unpaid liability screen for "Payroll Taxes and Liabilities". I edited the Deduction item and changed the code to the correct code, and the system asked me how far back I wanted to update data, and I gave it the date of the paycheck in this pay period (since I just created the Deduction code). However in the screen for "Create Custom Liability Payments" the Deduction code still shows up, and if I select it, it says there is no "liability ag
I am trying to create a category hierarchy in QBO (QuickBooks Online).During testing in the sandbox, category creation works normally after creating the sandbox. However, after resetting the sandbox, category creation fails. The CompanyInfo.NameValue.Name.ItemCategoriesFeature flag:• true — categories are enabled• false — categories are not enabledAfter resetting, this setting changes from true to false. I would like to know how to set it back to true.Let me know if you’d like any adjustments!

Hi All, How do I set up QuickBooks Desktop 2020 to send eMail invoices with Thunderbird? I have done this once before, but forgot how to do it. :'( Many thanks,-T
I took a screen capture on my phone of "We couldn't find anything for that search" with the exact same number showing in search results as pictured on my laptop's browser but I can't attach pictures here.
Is there a way to migrate data after the 60 days? Or do I need to chat with support about this? It's a weekend, so they weren't available to chat with.
Used Chase Billpay to provide a $5K grant to a vendor. The bank withdrew the $5K and reconciled in QBO as an expense.Received notice that the vendor did not cash the $5K check so Chase stopped payment after 90 days and returned the $5K to my account and reconciled QBO. I sent the $5K again. I do not want to see the $5K twice in my reports for the vendor.
I'm having a big problem for many months now, maybe even longer. We use progress invoicing a lot and for some reason, the calculations are no longer correct. It doesn't matter if I pick a % or $ in the popup screen - let's say I put in 25% on a 10,000 estimate. It should show 2,500 but always shows some random number, like 24,999.34 and it's always slightly off. Most of our estimates have multiple line items and if you look at the % on each line item it's something incredibly long like 25.0000098 or something weird. This is a real pain to fix and in some cases we just can't fix it. Just like others here, I've chatted with support on and off for months and every time is a worse experience than before. They never seem to have any idea whatsoever in how the product works or what I'm talking about, and they tell me they'll escalate it, and nothing ever happens. So I'm posting this publicly to see if anyone can help or fix the issue. It impacts our business.
The Schedule C article is not what I'm looking for.
In QB24, if I go to make a General Journal entry and click on a bank account or an interest account (for example), a small window opens showing all of the available accounts. The one you choose gets highlighted with a solid dark blue bar. It is so dark that on a list you cant tell what it says under the highlight so you cant read which one is highlighted. I want to change the color of the highlite to something lighter.I have looked through the setting and edit menu but can't find anything that addresses this. Can anyone help?
I need to file old unemployment tax. Can Quickbooks do this or at least generate the forms?
Setup automatic invoicing with payments
I'm buying an existing business for $65k and I'm using my own money as a downpayment which is $40k then the Seller agreed that I can pay the remaining $25k in a montly basis for $2k. How do I journal entry this one for tax purposes? Thank you!
My Merchant Service Deposit link is not working and I am unable to record payments. I spent an hour on the phone with a call center with no results. They mentioned there were issues but that was weeks ago. How can I get this issue fixed? Very frustrated!
I have been able to match bank transactions to journal entries in the past, but when I chose match and entered the correct information for the journal entry I'm looking for, QBO doesn't bring anything up. Any ideas on what is going on? I have double and triple checked my dates entered, put the journal entry number and nothing comes up.
Is tracking breaks only available in Quickbooks Time? When I go to TIME in Quickbooks Online, there is no 'assignments' & 'break preferences' tabs. Unless its found elsewhere? Thx!
Fidelity when you earn interest provides two transactions: 1. The interest payment 2. the transfer to the SPAXX account. I set this up using the main account and a SPAXX sub-account. When I try to reconcile the transaction in QBO, I get the error "You can't select a transfer to/from the same account you're currently working in." even though I am transferring from the parent account into the sub-account for SPAXX. I would like to be able to reconcile these transactions.
auto track not working, manual track not working, i have to go in each day and estimate mileage, this is not what im paying for.
I have a set of books with open AR going back to 2018. Any suggestions on how to clean this up? Thank you. I’m confident most, if not all, have been paid. The record keeping is what’s poor.
I don't understand why I can not flie a tax return. I paid for this service multiple times.
We have employees who have child support garnishments. We charge them a $5.00 processing fee. We use Quickbooks Online Payroll to process our payroll. I just noticed that there is a credit in our "Employee Advance Other Liability" account for the amount we have been deduction from the employees checks for the processing fee. Is this correct? What entry should I do to zero it out?
I am just getting started with the Commerce app for Shopify. I have data pulled in, but my setup isn't right. The default sales tax in the setup didn't report any sales tax payables for the Texas State Comptroller.I have edited it but now I get the error when trying to approve a payout. Why is there no QB support on the weekends at all? We couldn't Add the transaction(s) due to "You have either selected a tax liability account on a transaction where it's not allowed, or haven't specified a tax rate along with it.". Try again later.
